Intel inside Web 2.0

Posted by rexdixon on November 8, 2006

Tech and media titans of every stripe are staking out territory in the new, interactive Web. Intel Capital (INTC), the investment arm of the world’s biggest computer chipmaker, wants to leave its mark through a deal with several startups to build a package of publishing, posting, and interactive newsgathering programs for businesses. The product, called SuiteTwo, will be available early 2007 and will sell for $175 to $200 per user, per year.

BlackArrow $14.75 million.. and..

Posted by rexdixon on November 8, 2006

There is NO URL. This is super secret, well not that secret! There is just no URL as they are developing a way to make TiVo really suck! Just read — San Mateo start-up BlackArrow has raised $14.75 million to develop a way to insert advertisements in TV and Internet video programming, and it shows the ads even if people try to skip over ads with their DVRs.

Technically Speaking, I will have to say that will really make my TV obsolete!

This is kind of Cool

Posted by rexdixon on November 8, 2006

For the second night in a row, Scobleizer has come up with a nice short post that has some interesting new site. I think this could be fun, and useful also in the long run. MapLib is the site. Not too shabby; Technically Speaking that is.

Microsoft – AOL – Google – Web 2.0 start up’ing it!

Posted by rexdixon on November 8, 2006

All 3 companies are now doing what the Web 2.0 start ups are doing. They are playing with AJAX, RSS, media, and social networking. Marshall has a great overview.

DietTelevision

Posted by rexdixon on November 8, 2006

DietTelevison (no, this isn’t on TV!) is billed as weight loss 2.0 – okay. How about weight loss 1.0? If you really want to lose weight, log off the computer, and take a walk. Repeat. Rest. Repeat. I bet you will lose more weight then any site that bills itself as “DietTelevision” which just so happens to be online. So, let me go over weight loss 1.0 again. Get up. Go outside. Take a 30 minute walk. Rest. Repeat. Rest. Repeat.

Take the Rex Dixon challenge.  I bet you will lose more weight, feel better, and be in much better shape then looking at a web site that bills itself as “DietTelevision”.

Technically Speaking, it is quite apparent to Rex Dixon at least, why the rest of the world hears the word “American” and instantly they think Homer Simpson! The whole diet industry in a nutshell annoys me.

ConceptShare and Thinkature

Posted by rexdixon on November 8, 2006

ConceptShare and Thinkature are two site doing basically the same thing, and both are compared in this post by Marshall. The big difference will be of course which one the users will flock to first. Thinkature is FREE, and probably has 10% of the funding that ConceptShare has. ConceptShare will be a pay site.

Technically Speaking, both sites are aiming at a niche market. I can see a merger or one site going under in the near future. The users of the market that uses either one will decide their fate. Good luck!

Social Networking numbers

Posted by rexdixon on November 8, 2006

Liz over at GigaOm has a nice break down of the numbers from the Web 2.0 Summit of the social networks. Not just the American ones, but apparently this place called Cyworld in Korea has a big share of the Korean population online.

Technically Speaking, numbers rule the internet, the bigger yours are, the more money that is offered to you.

Windows Vista Ships

Posted by rexdixon on November 8, 2006

Yes according to that dude Scobleizer – it appears that Windows Vista has now shipped! Technically Speaking, someone needs to anonymously send Rex Dixon a new laptop that is capable of running Vista for Christmas – or don’t be shy about it, just let me know who you are,  and I’ll hype you up on the podcasts and blog!
