Page Views going away?

Posted by rexdixon on December 14, 2006

So if page views go away in as little as 4 years time, to help AJAX and newer technologies evolve, how will the companies track ad dollars? I mean will it be simply a “flat rate” or should I say “fat rate” that you end up paying? Will you be willing to pay $10 k to anyone?

TechCrunch does deserve that amount with the traffic they generate. In 4 years though, if the prediction of page views going away, how will we know that TechCrunch is a viable ad placement location?

There has to be some sort of checks and balances put in place if page views are going bye-bye. I agree with letting the new technologies breath and live; evolve. On the other hand, with nothing to show that you are deserving of the top ad dollar, will you be forced to live on what your old page views showed?

Good example. What if in 4 years MySpace has been overrun with sex freaks and they never stopped that influx? What if people shy away from the social network. With that example, in 4 years time, does MySpace point back to the week they out ranked Yahoo? Will what happened this week in 2006 matter in 2010?

Technically Speaking, somebody better come up with a better way before they eliminate the only way to gauge the popularity as well as the ad viability of web sites. Page Views. They are here to stay for now until someone comes up with a better way.

I’m not being paid money at least!

Posted by rexdixon on December 12, 2006

The FTC says that blogs and everyone online that markets via word of mouth must disclose if they are being paid by that product or person. Apparently someone cried foul because Erickson staged actors to show off their new camera phone in 2002.

I will state now – NO company has paid me a DIME to blog about them. Not one cent. I blog about companies I truly believe in, or companies that interest me. I also blog about stupid things that I see, or stupid items that interest me. Then again, I blog about allot of things, and guess what FTC — No one has paid me any money. Now I have received some barter items and exchanges for different things, but as far as actual money – Zero dollars in Rex Dixon’s bank account – at least in 2006!

Rex Dixon Encourages YOU to take a minute

Posted by rexdixon on December 12, 2006

Yes, YOU the reader to take some time to visit our sponsors. As well as check out the advertise options and merchandise. I’d rather really be working for some cool startup, (SplashCast perhaps?) or maybe doing IT work again, maybe. I haven’t had any offers come my way so…. advertising and merchandising is the way to go right now. 🙂

Now the sponsors — visit them, use them, ask questions:

yourminis.com – I use it daily. Great site, great service. Their webtop Goowy is also worth checking out.

Mr. Business Golf – Hey Sunnyvale, CA and othere places out west, you need to check this out. If you are not getting Business done via the Golf game, you haven’t put it together yet. Business Golf can help. MBG also writes a fantastic blog. I think his writing is allot better then mine.

Technically Speaking, allot of bloggers write better then me. 🙂

Google and Yahoo both bow to IE7

Posted by rexdixon on December 11, 2006

Yes, some call it copying. Others just call it smart.

I think that Google wanted to run an ad, and ran with something simple. Something that Yahoo already tried and it worked. Why reinvent the wheel? I mean as a blogger, I write things on my own from time to time – when I have the time. Other times, I see something interesting like this and run with it.

Imitation is the biggest compliment to the original work. It shows that Google thought, why try to create something better when this works? It also shows that when you are just bowing down to the king, why not pay the tax and just be done with it?

If that was incoherent or you didn’t understand what I just said, please re-read it. Read with an outside the box mind. Read in between the lines. I don’t write for a 3rd grade class, and when I was in 3rd grade I was in one of those classes for gifted kids. I’m sorry if  sometimes I blog over your head, but what I am conveying to the blog reading audience is there. Just think for a minute and not consume.

Technically Speaking, I can’t hold your hand when you are reading my posts.

Pause time

Posted by rexdixon on December 7, 2006

Won’t be around until later in the evening. So… time for a pause..

Please visit our sponsors – yourminis.com — they just came out with a great HUD (heads up display) plugin. It ROCKS!

Mr. Business Golf – on the seminar tour in 2007!

Now help support the site – by doing some CPM advertising here – if you buy in now, you maximize your ROI! 🙂 Do the math, in the last 2 days for $16 you would have had good exposure!

Purchase some merchandise if you don’t want to do the CPM advertising.

Technically Speaking, will be back when I can today!

Edgeio

Posted by rexdixon on November 30, 2006

edgeioEdgeio, has acquired the assets of Adaptive Real Estate Services. This business has been  built over the past several years by father and son team Robert and Peter Meyer — and which has patiently built up relationships with brokers and agents in 70 of the top MLS organizations — and equivalent to about 70 percent of the MLS network nationwide.

What edge does Edgeio have now? Edgeio can now show the MLS network’s 1.5 million homes in its search results, and let users drill down to see the data details hosted on Web sites it has relationships with. And going forward, other brokers and dealers can opt into Edgeio’s network.

Technically Speaking, that sounds like a potential gold mine that was just bought!

Lotame – target marketing the social networks

Posted by rexdixon on November 29, 2006

lotameLotame, is a new company that will be coming online in December. They are using target marketing on the social networks. I believe target marketing was discussed in the Coffee show or the Happy Hour show just recently?

Technically Speaking, I am really liking the thinking of some of the newer companies; attacking issues that are out there and trying to resolve them.
