BUT.. there is always a “but” when it comes to the original genie. What am I saying? Well I was looking into this more indepth this evening. It’s quite apparent that even though you can put the genie in the bottle for a few seconds, once it was let out all those years ago by Napster, it’s out. Face the music, AllOfMp3.com might go away,
but…
You can’t stop the music. Ever. Get it through your head polititians, world leaders, RIAA, record companies, etc… The genie was let loose. With that being said, I hope you all have tried these other great music sites.
Let’s start with allTunes - looks like where AllOfMp3.com will be heading. I like their motto – “Make your life louder!” – Rex Dixon couldn’t have come up with a better slogan!
Then there is eMusic.com – 25 free downloads to join/start!
Here is one that is about to launch soon – IndieZone - so as I said — you can take the genie out, but you can’t put the genie back in for very long.
I want to state that I am in NO way endorsing ripping off the artists from making the money that they so rightly deserve! — the record companies of the world already take care of that! Being a musician myself, I would love the artists to all get paid for their hard work and creations. It is the music industry (ie- the record companies) that need to be honest and straight up, and PAY the artists what they are due for their work and creations.
Technically Speaking, as the article where I originally found this item said – and I quote – “The government will be expected to begin complying by June 1, 2007.” — that is what I love about government sometimes. By the time June 2007 rolls around, you can burn off a whole bunch of music. When it comes time for the site to “legally” pull the plug – you do what we all did – open up another bottle and let out another genie!

Zooomr, it’s going to Zooomr MarkIII sometime soon. I took a look at Mark II or I, and all I see is Flickr mixed in with some photograph the planet meets ??? – I guess the coolest thing is that there are tons of pictures that I like on all of these sites. The good ones I use for my background on this desktop.
I can sort of see where they want to take this, but for now,
Zooomr (until Mark III?) is just another photo – wanting to be – social site. Will it change the world? Technically Speaking, I think Zooomr is a good thing, but I’m too burnt on all the photo sites out there.

Krugle, I have been wanting to post about it since I saw this late last night or early this morning. I think if this site would have been around 5 years ago, I would have kept coding along. Why?
I agree that most coders will look for bits and pieces to their puzzle they are creating. Again, I also agree that allot of times you waste most of the day to find that one piece that will work. Doesn’t matter if you are coding in C++, Java, AJAX, or doing PHP or even simple HTML, when you find something you want and you can’t get it to work – ou go hunting.
Stop hunting, and go Krugling.
Technically Speaking, Krugle couldn’t have come to my attention at a more opportune time as I am starting to play around a bit with Firebird, and I’m beyond rusty on simple SQL these days!

Less Accounting™ offers simple expense tracking that will save you hours weekly. Your time is better spent doing what you do best. Quit wasting your valuable time trying to be an accountant.

Will
Skype be the same after the dust settles? I personally like Skype, and would hate to see it crash and burn. Something tells me, that eBay is going to be swallowed up soon for some bad business decision’s it has made over the last 18 months. This is another one that sticks in my mind, and unlike the Chinese debacle that we all read about, this one is hitting somewhere that is near home.
Technically Speaking, can Google save this before it’s nothing but a skelton of it’s former self?

Mixd, is a new venture by Yahoo that is like that one site that you actually saw commercials on TV (what is that?) about. It’s one of those online, meets offline social networking sites. That is what I am gathering from this write up on it. No one seems to know how long they have been around, and Technically Speaking, has the first of these worked yet?

Pikeo, is not only a tri-lingual site, but it emphasizes mapping is the way to do pictures. Technically Speaking, this blog can only be done in English as that is all I converse in. I speak bits of broken Japanese and some broken Spanish and German; very BROKEN!Sorry!

The cause would be to take a second to Visit Our Sponsors!
While the rest of the world catches up with Rex Dixon, I figured
it would be time to do a little self promotion.
yourminis – This is a truly a great site that I use daily! If you haven’t visited it yet to set up your account, while we take this moment of pause, please give them a visit and do that!
In fact as a service for the readers — here is how you would pull in the feed for Technically Speaking - In the left corner (once you are on yourminis.com) - click on – “Add Content” - > click on the orange “RSS logo“- as you hover over it it will say “Add Feeds” -> click on the folder that says “Web 2.0” – The Technically Speaking blog is in between 2 great sites - rev2.org and Slashdot – this blog Technically Speaking is called simply – Rex Dixon on yourminis. Click that and you have just added your first yourminis feed! Simple!
Next take a moment to visit
Mr. Business Golf’s site. He also writes a great blog located on the WordPress platform.
Now it’s time for the swag alert.
I wrote a post the other day about needing or really wanting a 2nd laptop like Leah received by letting companies “sponsor” the laptop. I would like to give the Apple MacBook Pro a try. Since I am a realist, and know that someone out there probably won’t be handing over one of the above anytime soon to Rex Dixon, all I can say is — Technically Speaking — PLEASE – buy some swag!
