This article poses the idea of “what if” MySpace, Facebook and any other social network would have set up a store prior to Black Friday. Hey, tomorrow is only Saturday – I say crack the whip and have it up and running in time for Cyber Monday! The AMA (American Marketing Association) threw out some curious numbers, all pointing to a money windfall for some of these social networking sites that are taking more then they are making on any given day.
Technically Speaking, if I was in charge of MySpace or Facebook – I would have jumped all over this a month ago. Like I said though — Cyber Monday is right around the corner. Your developers can whip this code out in oh, the next 48 hours right?

Boo.com to return. Here is a company that according to this article burned through $120 million in 6 months time and went dot bomb, with a capital B.
Why? Why are they returning? Because of course we are on that financial upswing of the internet at this time. Money being ready to be dropped on the next “Hey our site optimizes the uses of goat milk as a fuel product that we sell via our web site and ship everywhere!”
Back to boo.com – It appears a return is scheduled for 2007. I wonder how quick they will burn through their VC money this time?
Technically Speaking, this doesn’t bode well as it’s long past Halloween now and anything that states “boo” shouldn’t even be stated.

On November 28th (next Tuesday) you can do a live chat with German astronauts as the scream over Russia doing 28,000 kph. Yes, that is for real.
This real time chat is being organized by European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany, in partnership with German Internet service provider T-Online–will let German-speaking space fans get firsthand information from Thomas Reiter (astronaut on the mission). Here is the link to get in on the fun, even though the questions will be relayed by a moderator.
Technically Speaking, if you do not speak or read/write German – don’t waste your time! Duh!

Shameless self-promotion that is!
I just updated my advertising rate page, so if you are thinking about getting your logo to the right (upper right) corner in one of the highest visibility areas of any web site – just like our current sponsors:
* yourminis - great site, personally used by your’s truly Rex Dixon
* Mr. Business Golf
– has been a BIG time supporter of not only this blog but the podcasts as well, the support goes both ways and I encourage all to take a look at his business, the knowledge he has in operations, and his unique twist on business in general. The Business Golf blog is also very insightful on many topics.
Now it’s time to repromote that cool cafepress swag I have for sale. All proceeds come directly to Rex Dixon, as I stated clearly on one of my last podcasts earlier this past holiday week.
The blog shirt is by far the most popular item –
Next of course (and very close 2nd) happens to be the 7 Minutes with Rex Dixon shirt -
Why? I think it’s because they both come in black (as shown), red, olive and navy colors and all look great with the logo for 7 Minutes, as well as the blog shirt saying above.
Now of course there is MORE! Both of the Coffee with Rex Dixon show merchandise are equally popular items. For one, the collared-polo-golf shirt –
— that is
definate business casual day wear. It’s also great on the golf course! Equally important, I don’t think there are many of us out there that couldn’t use a nice big coffee mug -
If you are confused about what to buy or how to advertise, just go to the links in the top bar marked “Merchandise” and “Advertise“.
Technically Speaking, it’s time to get back to the blogging and stop my shameless self-promotion.

Okay, all you smart VC’s and internet start up companies. How come there is not a mention of a new start up company going after this reported $3 BILLION industry? Sure there are a few players out there, but there looks to be a TON of money made here. How? I don’t know, I’m just Rex Dixon, and I’m focused on Web 2.0, Linux, WebOS and other cool things these days. Technically Speaking, I have a secret and I’m not telling!

Currently according to this poll, it appears that 32% of the readers of the article believe that Google will be putting out a web OS or desktop OS very soon. If you remember what I wrote up on the two that are already out there comparison I did – Goowy and YouOS - I think both companies are in “danger” of being post “thanksgiving” gobbled up by Google!
Technically Speaking, from what I have seen from both companies that are doing it, there is allot of good stuff to offer in a webOS.

Script Mimic, looks to be the place to go if you want to start your own MySpace, YouTube, Photobucket, etc… I did a search for MySpace, and there looks to be a nice FREE script version to build your own social network on.
I believe that Script Mimic has a nice service to offer. Some of the scripts are FREE, others of course cost money. Either way, now there is a nice repository of scripts to build your Web 2.0 site. I have always said, if the wheel has been invented, why reinvent something that is there already? I for one am glad to see that sharing is alive and well.
Technically Speaking, this is one site that even though they are calling it “wobbly beta”, that Rex Dixon will be bookmarking for near future use.

Belgium – Do you think Google really cares if they can or can not put extracts from your press? Have you not been following how Google is dominating? When was the last time I read anything about Belgium? Your little spot of news on this is about all I have actually read about your country in, uhm, probably years!
Technically Speaking, if you want to cut your own throat, just ask Google not to list you or your site. Google will be more then happy to give you the knife, as well as help you search for the instructions on how to do it.

On one hand we have this “great offer” to get 50 cents per digg. I think this is like the e-mail’s that we all get saying “Hello, my name is Kofi Sc Rewyou from Nigeria… “
On the other hand, we have an admission by digg (Kevin Rose) that they do push certain stories to the top. More indepth about this here.
Technically Speaking, did anyone believe otherwise?

Even though they (virus writers, hackers, etc.. ) are making an attempt to break the Macs ever so superior “we don’t get virus’“ claim, it appears that some are making a run for it. Well I still would like to have the laptop that Leah received! Yes, I will use an advertised laden with your companies logo on it laptop! Technically Speaking, a FREE Mac with ads burned in the top of the lid sounds like a good laptop for Rex Dixon to have!
