Vplyr

Posted by rexdixon on November 20, 2006

vplyrVplyr.com is a very new site. It’s a video plugin that the founder is stating can basically help you make money with your videos. I think that the type of people such as Scobleizer should be checking this out. Rex Dixon is still doing podcasts, and hasn’t the resources to go vcasting at this time.

From what I saw on their site, I think that some company should check this out really soon before a big company — take your pick — Google, YouTube, Yahoo, Adobe, Microsoft, etc… in other words — someone that is in start up mode or has a video site already should check these guys out. That means NOW!

I’m sorry I can’t do a fantastic bang up review of this plugin, but it seems to make allot of sense to me. That is Technically Speaking of course! Yes, I still have to get back to Evolution Studios to cut that podcast!

The Peanut Butter memo

Posted by rexdixon on November 20, 2006

The Peanut Butter memo. I guess that is how the SVP from Yahoo wants to go down in history as. He wants to be Joe Maguire or someone that is a cheap imitation of Tom Cruise’s Jerry Maguire. Everyone is pondering it finally today, after thinking about it awhile. So what does Yahoo do from here? Buy Facebook? :)

All kidding aside, I read the memo that was supposedly leaked online somehow. I will believe it was leaked when I see proof of that, but we don’t need to go there and discuss that.

I will keep it short and to the point. I have a podcast to track still this evening.

Yahoo - sell to Google. Get it over with, merge, or aquire - whatever term you would like to use — and let Google and Yahoo become one. GooHoo. YahGoo. Let the lawyers sort it out. It’s the best move both companies could make and if you think the $500 per share Google stock is unbelievable, I would guesstimate $750 - $1000 per share for GooHoo would be very very reachable.

Technically Speaking, that is all for now,I’m a busy man and it’s podcast time!

Mark Zuckerberg’s embarrassing Uncle?

Posted by rexdixon on November 20, 2006

Listen, Mark - Rex Dixon here.

Dude, take a listen to some older and wiser guys. Terry Semel of Yahoo might seem like your embarrassing uncle right now at this moment in time. Time to wake up and smell the coffee Mark, the Coffee with Rex Dixon that is. Both Rex Dixon and Mr. Business Golf have been around the block a few times, and to be quite honest, your Mr. No Toe Sandals gig you pulled is the reason why Terry Semel of Yahoo and you don’t see eye to eye, or more like why the negotiations failed.

Technically Speaking, if you really want the deal you need to learn about styling and profiling. Rex Dixon and Mr. Business Golf are only one e-mail away from you. You need to consider this seriously before walking about with your cheap flip flops with the industry types again. Don’t believe me? Just ask anyone in the indusry that saw you, what they really thought of your “cool” look. As said in the Coffee show #4, we have been there, done that and looking from the outside in - it’s allot different view. I wish you luck with getting Facebook where you want it to be, but your coolness that you perceive is well… just grab your coffee cup and you know what to do -= Rex Dixon is only a click away for you =-.

More in depth on Jason Calacanis

Posted by rexdixon on November 20, 2006

Here is a great breakdown article on what Jason Calacanis did to the Netscape web site and how the statistics proves that their viewers walked away from it.

If this is true, then I’d rather never hire the guy to do any work on any web sites I’m a part of! Technically Speaking I will continue to do my own web site work. I definately would rather have an increase in views, NOT a decrease!

YouSendIt - $4.7 million - MyFabrick - $12 million

Posted by rexdixon on November 20, 2006

YouSendIt and MyFabrick are doing literally the same thing, but only some different specs as to what they offer. Basically it’s a place where you can put large files and send an e-mail to people to download that file there. Nice useful concept when you consider there are tons of things going on as far as video is concerned these days.

The $4.7 million and the $12 million in the subject line refer to how much VC money has been raised. That is of course Technically Speaking - No, actualy Literally Speaking! :)

My IP address - Google Maps

Posted by rexdixon on November 20, 2006

Now this is a service that should take off! Very interesting use of the Google map API and IP addresses. Definately give this a look today - IP Address to Google Maps. In fact bookmark it for later if you are at work, or send yourself the URL to your home. Technically Speaking, the network geek side of me came out there. :)

yahooblueYahoo looks like they are heading back to square one before that memo comes true for them! Technically Speaking, my bud down in Addison, TX should be able to tell me how the Dallas version of the ad looks.

TVNewser

Posted by rexdixon on November 20, 2006

I guess every professional blogger starts differently. It appears that this guy has the television industry religiously following his blog. I can just say, Technically Speaking that is very very cool.
