Wesabe

Posted by rexdixon on November 17, 2006

wesabe logoWesabe launched today. I would say very quietly. I have a feeling that it may become a quiet hit. This is an example of what I am seeing as the new social networking groups that are starting up out there. Think of this as 4th generation social networking. There wasn’t a single reference online anywhere that I saw today. The only one was this lone quiet posting at this hour of the evening.

So what is it? It is a community of people (social network) that share their experiences with money. The community is there to help others make better financial decisions. I am guessing some of the people at Sequoia Capital and a few of the other VC’s wished they would have stopped for a second before investing in that company, you know, where they are about to lose it all in a lawsuit.

The company is founded by O’Reilly Entrepreneur in Residence Marc Hedlund. Technically Speaking, I see gradual growth for this company, probably as quietly as they were launched today.

Google – World’s first $100 Trillion Company?

Posted by rexdixon on November 17, 2006

The Motley Fool has been pondering that thought. In fact they have written a whole article about Google settling in at the $500 per share mark. Google closed today at $498.79, +2.89, +0.58%. Technically Speaking, $500 looks like a reality come Monday unless something major news happens to shut down the Google monster.

Universal sues MySpace

Posted by rexdixon on November 17, 2006

Let’s have fun, all American style. It’s lawsuit time. Gather up your legal team, and start meeting with each other for a year, or two or three or ?. Make sure you log every billable hour to both sides, eat those lunches, dinners, and party for free. Hey, why not just make sure that FOX is included right in there too. I can bet all weekend, and into next week there will be talk about this lawsuit.

Okay that is enough about that. Universal vs MySpace w/Manager FOX in their corner, set ‘em, and get ready to rumble. The fun has just started up again. Right now it would be a good time to be on either legal team; Technically Speaking of course!

Ibrido.tv — Factsheet from CEO

Posted by rexdixon on November 17, 2006

ibrido.tvIbrido.tv — I did a write up on Ibrido.tv like 2 weeks ago. I received an e-mail today from the founder and CEO Daniel Belanger. When a CEO would like his factsheet out there, I have no problems providing him with the World Wide viewship that this blog enjoys!

He wanted me to relay this to all of you readers who were probably curious, or even to those that missed the above posting. He was nice enough to send over a factsheet on his company, and I will let him do the talking about Ibrido.tv -

They recognize that technology, media and design should have a deeper purpose beyond simply existing and consuming.

Above all they have hope and the desire to effect change.

Technically Speaking, Daniel — If you get some VC’s interested, definately pass a few by Rex Dixon’s neck of the woods! :) I hope to see your company continue it’s growth while keeping to your standards of excellence.

Yahoo acquires Bix

Posted by rexdixon on November 17, 2006

yahoobixYahoo has aquired Bix. You can read their message about the signing here. The CEO Mike Speiser from Bix gets to take over the Yahoo groups, 360, and photos now under the title of VP of Community. Speiser was the former founder of Epinions.

It appears that Bix had a great strategy, and being that this 16 person company only started back in January, and went live in August – I will say that everyone made some money quickly. Bix is not going away. They are all just moving to Sunnyvale, and will continue to operate and grow under the Yahoo umbrella.
