Amanda Congdon the Rex Dixon spin

Posted by rexdixon on November 15, 2006

We can watch her flub her lines, and you can all cut on her in the comments. I will say this though, just ask any of the video people such as Scobleizer or any of the podcasters who put out updated content on a regular basis — uhm… well, that would be ME — Rex Dixon – who is typing this out.

Why am I saying anything about this?

I am saying this for the simple fact of — Try it FOOL. If you think it’s easy to deliver 2 minutes of scripted or unscripted talk and make sense – think again! Rex Dixon does 7 Minutes 4 nights a week, and sometimes he does a Coffee show and a Happy Hour show with Mr. Business Golf. I flub lines all the time, talk with a mouthful of sticks at times, and sometimes there are shows where they just totally rock. I also am the editor, the producer, the production, the catering, the beer provider to.. well myself — the talent!

Trust me, video blogging, podcasting and all the media stuff you see is NOT easy. Oh, it’s a blast, it’s fun, and sometimes you really come up with some good shows. Some of the good ones even become GREAT ones over time.

Other times, you wish you could do it all again. BUT.. guess what? The time you spent leaving your bits of flaming and critique is the time that people like myself, Scobleizer, Mr. Business Golf, etc.. the list goes on — do NOT have the luxury of having or getting back.

Our time is dictated by the blogs we need to get out, the podcasts that need to be out, the shows that need edited, well you get the picture folks. Yes, it’s a big crapshoot, but all of us have taken the dive in either seriously or like some I have heard — really really half a$$.

You know what? Even though it might be half up the side of the back of a mountain and sound like it was recorded that way – hey — I applaud them for giving a crack at it, and going through what the serious ones such as Rex Dixon do during the majority of my week.

Amanda has used her skills, and her networking abilities to get to ABC News, and I applaud her work ethic for getting there. Technically Speaking, if you don’t bust your A$$ and yes, shake it a little when need be — you are just leaving snail trails on the internet with your condecending comments and remarks that you leave.

Truthfully? Amanda Congdon is having the time of her life, and if she happens to need say a co-host, or mc to introduce her, or side kick… – She need to look no further then Rex Dixon, Professional BlogCaster! :)

Qihoo – raises another $?? million for Web 2.0 search

Posted by rexdixon on November 15, 2006

In CHINA! Yes folks VC is alive and well in the land of China. It’s not a spin on what you are thinking either. Now when you go read this, you will be thinking – - is it “$25 million” or is it “$20 million“. Go figure right? I have no idea, it’s all Greek to me, er, Chinese to me.  The mistake was fixed of course, after Rex Dixon posted it up here first! The point is that the internet is growing and Web 2.0 is now becoming the defacto standard even in China, or remote places that read this blog (yes, I look).

qihoo logoQihoo has raised a total of $45 million and looks to be in a couple of turf wars with a company called Alibaba. Yes, that is a real company, not some Disney video. The CEO Hongyi Zhou is under fire from all sides, but on the main street view of things he has $45 million and is a leader of the Chinese internet. His company in one year’s time is about a third of the size of Baidu.

Lawsuits? Do we need to dig into the dirt of American internet things of the past few hours? I think not, and Technically Speaking if you want to read about it, just click this!

Widget Alert

Posted by rexdixon on November 15, 2006

Hey, I have the best dashboard widget sponsor to the right, or upper right corner. I encourage all of you readers to give them a try. “Visit Our Sponsor“!On to the posting now.

I read the video, calendar, and map widget post and the first thing that occured to me was — I know exactly what the guy from Google was talking about now during my phone interview like 3 years ago! I get it now, RSS was getting bigger and they were figuring out how to use along with other companies such as – blinx, Google (of course, duh!), 30boxes, and many more.

Would I have liked to have impressed the guy at Google and landed the job? Sure, it would have been fun, but Technically Speaking I believe there are other things on the horizon for Rex Dixon, things that Google couldn’t have provided me with.

Reset, Start over!

Posted by rexdixon on November 15, 2006

This is a nice article on the world of business plans and start up companies that have to switch gears quickly. It is quite interesting, as at the Web 2.0 conference last week, this was the big buzz company which we talked about here.

Technically Speaking, Rex Dixon has had to reset his biz plan also, for the moment at least.

YouTube does what?!?!

Posted by rexdixon on November 15, 2006

youtubeYes, the funniest part of this is that YouTube is telling TechCrunch to cease & desist. Not that is funny in itself, but as Mike pointed out near the end of his article, it’s the irony of the whole thing!

YouTube – the place that has every Motley Crue video ever made. YouTube – Where you could string together content and watch every Kingofthehill (yes, St. Louis, MO late 1980’s band; hard to find stuff by them!)video. The place where I can sit and watch for hours every 1980’s – 1990’s band that ever made a video – all for FREE mind you.

Technically Speaking, I need a category for funny ironic moments in Web 2.0 history or something. Hang on to that letter, that might be in the smithsonian one day as funny ironic things that companies have said to each other!

Phonezoo

Posted by rexdixon on November 15, 2006

phonezoo logoPhonezoo is a new FREE ringtone site start up that from what I could gather is invite only still; in beta?

I couldn’t get in to look at the site, as there was actually a hammer beating a nail animation ie.. – the site was under maintenance. From what I read here, it seems like a nice site. Target is the 20 year old college woman, who has 100 friends on MySpace / Facebook.

Technically Speaking – I don’t know why it has to be 100 friends??!?!? Marketing purposes or .. Phone SPAM! :) j/k!

AOL or AIM 6.0

Posted by rexdixon on November 15, 2006

The first major revision to the chat client is out today Wednesday. A few sites have the news, and I’m sure you will see more throughout the day. Technically Speaking – I use Meebo, so I will not see all the coolness of AIM 6.0.
