CRV Equity Calculator

Posted by rexdixon on November 9, 2006

CRV Equity Calculator - I found this on Venture Beat - but the link to the article was broke. I hope it works for the readers later this evening, early in the morning, but I was getting a 404 error over and over.

I thought that the calculator was very interesting and valuable to have around for those looking at start up financing and how it all works. The calculator was created by Dave Lavinsky for entrepreneurs wanting to know how their seed and subsequent rounds affect their ownership in a start-up. The calculator allows up to 5 rounds of financing and shows the equity that the management team, CRV (in this case), and other investors get.

Zimbra

Posted by rexdixon on November 9, 2006

Zimbra logoZimbra - Among companies offering AJAX technology for email/office products — which let you do cool useful things like scroll over an address and have a map pop up, and switch seamlessly to your contacts and calendar — Zimbra is the first to be available both online and offline, to our knowledge. Google has said it will make its products available offline, but hasn’t followed through yet.

Technically Speaking, I am wondering if this was originally a Y Combinator invested company?

ReviewMe Launches

Posted by rexdixon on November 9, 2006

ReviewMe logoReviewMe is a site that Mike seems to like better then Pay Per Post. Rex Dixon tried joining the site, and was allowed to join. BUT when he put down this blog - Technically Speaking - getting nearly 15 million reaches a day per Alexa — and averaging around 5 million a week – Rex Dixon and Technically Speaking was turned down flat! ??? Technically Speaking — Go figure, but go check them out anyways.

iLike

Posted by rexdixon on November 9, 2006

iLike is getting a ton of press today. All of it good too. Even the Venture Beat bunch really is giving it a 2 thumbs up review. The only thing is that people might confuse it, or one slip of a letter will take you to Like.com! Both are worlds apart.

Technically Speaking, iLike probably has a better user base even though Like.com is kind of cool.

Google - Advertisers Beware!

Posted by rexdixon on November 9, 2006

Google and advertising. I would have had to say about 10 minutes ago - “Yes, it’s probably where you want to put your ad dollar.” That was until I read and posted over on the IBN about Google and sending out virus’!

Technically Speaking, I have said it over and over again - “the internet moves at the speed of light” — and here once again, it might not be light speed, but in Rex Dixon’s mind - my thoughts on Google changed pretty quickly in about a span of 10 minutes!

MySpace guys stiffed for $5 Million?

Posted by rexdixon on November 9, 2006

VentureBeat - took on the Technically Speaking style of posting today - with a round up article. You know the one where people questioned Rex Dixon about the whole comma between subjects thing. Rex Dixon once again, within a few weeks time - just like the - Coffee with Rex Dixon show - is just one gigantic step (well days and weeks at least) of the rest of SV!

Technically Speaking, getting $5 million isn’t that bad of deal Chris and Tom. I mean seriously, if you didn’t have MySpace - what would you be doing today? Would you have had even a fraction of the potential to make that kind of money? GTFU! Oh and read the article above, it does have that Technically Speaking feel, of quick hit round up!

Microsoft in bed with Universal Music

Posted by rexdixon on November 9, 2006

There are multiple reports about Microsoft - Universal Music - and the new Zune scheduled for release in about a week now. Gigaom compares it to the Music Mafia, Engadget has a nice quote from Doug Morris and the NY Times, just go read it!

Technically Speaking, what if more people are downloading a week’s worth of 7 Minutes with Rex Dixon, or waking up and smelling the Coffee with Rex Dixon and putting those on their Zune? Doug, you gonna fork some of the millions over to Rex Dixon? Doubt it! Scam as always, and Om is more correct - it is a Music Mafia!
