Homezone, Charter loses $133 million

Posted by rexdixon on November 1, 2006

Want to have a movie waiting when you get home? There’s a new alternative to stopping by the video store: AT&T Homezone, which marries the company’s high-speed Internet service with satellite television.

Rex Dixon wakes up this morning, grabs his cup of coffee and sits down at the computer. Guess what? The cable modem was down! So after spending like 20 minutes talking to a voice activated system and troubleshooting - I get of course someone in INDIA!!!!!

Anyways, don’t come crying to me Charter because you lost $133 million. MAYBE if you would have not shipped jobs out of America, MAYBE you would have had a decent quarter and made some money.

Technically Speaking, karma even gets companies and it bites you HARD! Okay, I’m relaxed, sipping on my cup of coffee now.

Dell CEO - “1 GB of RAM may not be enough for VISTA!”

Posted by rexdixon on November 1, 2006

Rex Dixon is glad to know that. I won’t be installing Vista anytime soon. I wasn’t planning on it anyways, but this is great that someone as high profile as the CEO from Dell has stated the obvious fact. Vista code is probably so HUGE, that just firing up your computer alone I can bet will require anywhere from 128-512 mb of RAM. That is just STARTING it up!

I had someone say that I was on “notice” the other day about Vista. Well I will as always approach it with an open mind, but truthfully, when the CEO from Dell says “1 GB of RAM may not be enough for VISTA!”, Rex Dixon tends to go into the mode of - Technically Speaking - I freakin’ TOLD YOU so!!!

Okay — TECHNICALLY SPEAKING — his exact quote to some Chinese at the Jiaotong University in Shanghai  was - “I think they tell you maybe one gig of memory is OK. No. Two gigs of memory would be great.“——- Rex Dixon says,”One half dozen of the other, we can read between the lines!”

Orkut, Ugenie, Zoomr, Charles River, Scrybe

Posted by rexdixon on November 1, 2006

Orkut appears to be more popular then MySpace. Or are the numbers real?

Ugenie is a new shopping aggregator by two former Amazon executives.

{{{ Sigh }}} Another photo upstart called Zoomr has doubled Flickr’s monthly photo upload limit. They are still in beta.

Charles River Ventures. I think that is where Rex Dixon is heading with the biz plan! They have launched a new “Quick Start” link that is suppose to be working by today.

Scrybe launched in beta last night. Technically Speaking, Scrybe looks like they have a great product from the video we all saw.
