Pando, DSL in trouble

Posted by rexdixon on October 26, 2006

Pando is breaking away from the p2p pack. They claim over 1.5 million downloads of their client.

DSL is now in trouble. That really bites, as I was getting ready to move off of cable to DSL soon. I guess I’ll wait it out.

Technically Speaking, that was quick hit!

Canada ROCKS, Ubuntu, Windows WSE, Zombie Windows

Posted by rexdixon on October 26, 2006

Quebec listened to my podcast from 10/24/2006. I also think that possibly if they listened to the podcast, they really didn’t want a whole bunch of Rex Dixon votes to count!

Ubuntu is set to release its latest Linux distribution today, code-named the Edgy Eft, and officially called Ubuntu 6.10.

Microsoft recently celebrated the millionth sale of Windows Starter Edition (WSE), a very stripped-down version of Windows at an equally reduced price.

Of the many forms of attacks uncovered during the first half of 2006, the company said backdoor Trojans which take control of infected computers can be found in almost one out of every two Windows-based systems.

Technically Speaking, I think all that was quite interesting, at least to Rex Dixon it was!

Tioti – Tape it off the Internet

Posted by rexdixon on October 26, 2006

Tioti - or – Tape it off the Internet. The buzz on this is starting to hit the online world. We should probably be seeing a ton of new start up companies that will be taking advantage of the TV on the internet that everyone is talking about these days.

Technically Speaking, I’m so glad that this isn’t a post related or about that company that is in the dominate forefront at this time. Maybe someone or some forefront company is actually reading and learning something from this blog I run?

Odeo, Mobile E-Mail, Oracle – Red Hat

Posted by rexdixon on October 26, 2006

Odeo is now gone. The whole article on how it ends is more interesting actually then what they were providing. You can read either site’s coverage of this.

At least Web Worker Daily is offering up some interesting user participation type of post this morning. Gmail is the answer folks! I hate to say it, but it works and works well.

Looks like Oracle has now muscled Red Hat to just basically take over as the Red Hat Enterprise support. This should be interesting to follow in the coming days and weeks.

Technically Speaking, I’m gone for now!
