Paperless – Echosign?, Friendster Patent #2

Posted by rexdixon on October 18, 2006

A very good point brought up by Om. Don’t you hate companies and businesses that still require paperwork? What’s the point? To say “Oh, but YOU signed this document, we have you by the ….. !!!” Seriously, though it appears that there is this new company called Echosign that won best of show at the Office 2.0. They are trying to change the face of electronic signatures. Read all about it in Web Worker Daily’s article by Om.

Friendster just received patent #2. They are going to somehow try to lock up the whole social networking thing. Isn’t that like the kid in Jr. High who had the only good football, basketball, etc.. and if he didn’t get his way — he took it home and NO one played? Sounds like that pretty much describes what I was reading the other day about the Friendster CEO.

Technically Speaking, I “think” I use to know the Friendster CEO, well I use to see him take his ball home allot in a temper tantrum!!!

Google launches optimizer, Apple – 2 views

Posted by rexdixon on October 18, 2006

Google announced the launch of their new tool which is a web site optimizer. They announced it at the Washington, DC eMetrics conference today. You can find the Google Website Optimizer online and ready for use.

I love the way media writes things. Rex Dixon just lays it out there for you. There are 2 views or really 2 articles today on the Apple iPod virus. One strongly puts the blame on Microsoft. The other one, not so much.

Technically Speaking, Rex Dixon just gives it to you straight up, your shot of whiskey, no rocks, no soda – just whiskey straight up!

Experts That Speak, Web Money

Posted by rexdixon on October 18, 2006

Experts That Speak just came online recently. I just received word of it less then 1 hour ago. If you need an expert for your business group, outing, etc. – You may want to go over their group of heavy hitters. Yes, for a price, your’s truly – Rex Dixon – is available as a warm up act — call it – 7 Minutes LIVE - expanded version.

**Disclaimer**Rex Dixon is NOT represented by the Experts That Speak agency. I am just saying – I am available as an opening act! Just thought I needed to clarify that after I re-read the post!

Now apologies are in order to Om Malik. Last night, I was looking through all my feeds to see what would be the best to pick for the most interest on this blog. I saw this article that Om posted last night, but honestly – Rex Dixon was a bit overwhelmed so I chose what I chose to blog on and went with it. Obviously this is still a HOT story over there on GigaOm.com – check it out.

I agree and Technically Speaking, there probably is allot more money out there ready to quit burning a hole in some VC firms pockets!

MySQL Enterprise, Firebird SQL, Enron Ken Lay-conviction wiped

Posted by rexdixon on October 18, 2006

MySQL Enterprise which is now said to have better monitoring for DBA’s looks to be the latest open source database to enter the commercial market fulltime. I was actually in a MySQL conversation with someone in the past week and his reaction was “We don’t use MySQL!!!” This person uses Firebird SQL database. Rex Dixon loves databases and was also into Oracle back in the day as an Oracle DBA.

I am kind of down the middle on this one. Enron’s Ken Lay (who as we all know is dead) – his conviction was wiped off his record. I guess it really doesn’t matter much as the guy is dead and gone – but Technically Speaking – what about all those people he ripped off? His own employees and workers? How do they feel about getting slapped in the face again?

Microsoft – Google, MS-Vista license, Google Security issues

Posted by rexdixon on October 18, 2006

It looks like the gloves are off. Microsoft has officially announced via their CEO that it is a getting a bit hard hiring with Google in the driver’s seat. I mean, if you had a choice – would you go to California or rainy Seattle for your next engineering job? Would you choose cool laid back dudes and dudettes to work with? Or uptight old world (IT world that is!) corporation who can’t get their new OS out on time?

Speaking of that, it looks like they are locking Vista up pretty tight. Big BIG MISTAKE. Everyone knows why. Do we need to expand upon that any further? Vista might be the last OS Microsoft ever releases. No empire has ever out classed the Roman one, nothing close. Keep that in mind Microsoft as you get ready to unleash a beast that possibly no one will want to buy!

Google is having some serious security issues. Now, I even did a podcast mention of Docs and Spreadsheets. Keep an eye on this, but as with the first paragraph above, I don’t have worries at all. Technically Speaking Google has the money power on their side and shouldn’t have any issues hiring the good engineers; no make that the BEST engineers out there.

Anywheremp3.com, GoogleTube and The Koreans, Free Rocks France!

Posted by rexdixon on October 18, 2006

Anywheremp3.com is a flashed based mp3 player. I really don’t understand exactly what Om is saying here, but it kind of like a virtual mp3 player. Just head over there and check it out for yourself.
GoogleTube and the Korean connection. You know something just isn’t right these days about Korea. You have the South Korean representative to the UN as the UN President elect. You have the North Korean’s blowing up and playing with nukes. Now we find there could be a South Korean connection, thought not totally blatant or obvious to the Google – YouTube acquisition.

France, their ISP Free.fr that I posted about yesterday here on the blog — well that just totally ROCKS! Why can’t the USA innovate and not replicate? Technically Speaking more news around the corner!
