Here is the thing I did *NOT* talk about on the podcast but said I was going too at the top of the show:

SlimTimer update

Now I did run a correction for the 10/4/2006 podcast and this was on the Screen Door Open — make sure you check them out - updates will be there soon as they are now gearing up for their 2007 tournament season.

I also just cut a promo tonight after my podcast was done for Pete Davis and his Live from the Garage podcast found on clickcaster.com — you can *not* find that on the 10/5/2006 podcast - you can check his site over the weekend when he does his new podcast.

That pretty much covers it; Technically Speaking that is!

Microsoft Warns Vista Pirates, Writely

Posted by rexdixon on October 5, 2006

Looks like Microsoft is serious about pirated copies of Vista. I wonder how long it will be before someone cracks that anti-piracy code? Oh, I guess that was enough time, been done.

Writely got a decent plug today over here on Web Worker Daily. New York venture capitalist Fred Wilson has an interesting post you might want to read.

That’s it for now, Technically Speaking that is!

Google Code Search, Skype Interview, Blog Scoops Media

Posted by rexdixon on October 5, 2006

Google just today launched Code Search which will help programmers, coders, scripters, etc… search for publically available code online. Very nice, as I always look for code before attempting to write it! Read the entire article here.

Om has a nice 5 question interview with Skype co-founder  Janus Friis. btw - Om just completed his 3 month move from NY to SF. Now that is taking your sweet time in a move! Rex Dixon has lived many places and moved allot over the years, and never has it taken me that long to complete a move!

What CNN terms a “mysterious blog”, I just say — Get with the times! There is no such thing as a mysterious blog. It’s just people who actually care about the news, and who report it on time, everytime, and get opinions out there for everyone to read quickly. Also goes for podcasting, and that is why Rex Dixon is a Professional BlogCaster - why wait for CNN or some other media outlet to “report the news“?

You have this blog as well as thousands of others where stories actually BREAK and not written broken; BlogCasting is the future and that is Technically Speaking!

AOL’s Openride, Podzinger, Myspace & Facebook, QWest

Posted by rexdixon on October 5, 2006

AOL announced yesterday it’s new private information harvesting program called Openride. Okay, it’s really their new browser based on IE, but read the article here.

Podzinger will be listening for ad opportunties. Rex Dixon says, “Listen to 7 Minutes with Rex Dixon – I’ve been asking for sponsors in my podcasts!”. Read the entire article here.

Let’s do math! Myspace & Facebook social networking style that is. Speaking of social networks — yes, Rex Dixon signed up to be invited to Wallop — which I will now refer to as Jallop as in big over priced piece of —- well a big old Jalopy!! No, I have NOT received my invite to them.

Lastly - QWest bought itself back late yesterday. I believe Technically Speaking, I have covered allot for all of you readers in my last 3 posts - now - go read!

Powerset, Audioblogger = DeadPool, Yelp = $10 million more!

Posted by rexdixon on October 5, 2006

Looks like there is a new player on the block of search. Powerset, and you can read all about it in the TechCrunch article.

AudioBlogger joins the Dead Pool. That’s why Rex Dixon is a Professional BlogCaster and has never ventured down podcasting online. I do it the old fashioned way. A headset mic, and Cool Edit Pro and Sonar!

Yelp, a review site just secured another $10 Million dollars in funding. It will be awhile before it joins the above Dead Pool; but again, that is all speculation or really just Technically Speaking.
