And even MORE MONEY!

Posted by rexdixon on September 29, 2006

Looks like Shutterfly raised $87 million in their IPO today! Wow! Did Rex Dixon say something about ohhhhh…. in a very recent podcast like on Monday about the new dot com boom? Or was I just Technically Speaking to myself?

More money, lot’s more money!

Posted by rexdixon on September 29, 2006

$15 million B round for Podshow. I heard about this yesterday, or the speculation of it going down. I checked out the web site for Podshow - and if you are web 2.0 developer, have experience with micro payments, or deploying new video services — well just go check out their job podcast. Honestly, with that kind of funding,  this might be a place you want to check out for a new gig; Technically Speaking that is.

LinuxPC can Grow Broadband?

Posted by rexdixon on September 29, 2006

I am very impressed by how much Om Malik of GigaOm.com can crank out in a day. Well, his crew of writers and him that is. I like reading his articles/his crew that writes for his site(s) and they are very timely.

Take for instance this latest one. I’m not surprised at all that Linux is in the news. I have been a long time fan of the OS, and have had several Linux boxes in the span of over 10 years now. In fact, I still have a Linux server at home that serves as my file server.

Now the thing I don’t like is, “Why do other countries seem to innovate more so then the USA?” It seems like this French ISP has found the ticket at least Technically Speaking.

Helio, RIM, LicketyShips

Posted by rexdixon on September 29, 2006

Looks like there is a boost for Helio since ESPN is shutting down mobile ESPN. This was just written up on GigaOm.com - like only 15 minutes ago.

Om wonders why RIM keeps on ticking why others have failed.

Engadget finally did a write up on LicketyShips which was covered back some hours ago (day’s?) here and elsewhere. It’s Friday and Technically Speaking, people are putting up their laptops and trading them in for the weekend in most places.

New .MAC Webmail, CDN’s, WI-FI, VideoEgg, Google Reader

Posted by rexdixon on September 29, 2006

TechCrunch was up early blogging about the new .MAC webmail. It seems like the big story over on GigaOm.com is about CDN’s or Content Delivery Networking. There was also this cool WI-FI overview article written by Katie Fehrenbacher on GigaOm.com earlier yesterday. Then there was a VideoEgg article by Liz over there.

I saw all these yesterday, but I wanted to give as much time to people to see the below FREE offer by Rebtel.com

Yes, I saw all of these and more. Just didn’t blog about them all!

I stated in last night’s podcast (9/28/2006 podcast) - Google Reader updates - were as stated - very nice. It’s easy to use, and I will hear back later to find out if my older sister has given it a go. IF she does, then I KNOW Google Reader is a winner! That would be the fire test; you know… Technically Speaking!
