More On The eBay China Syndrome
Posted by rexdixon on September 27, 2006
Looks like Om Malik did his research, and when you read his short post right here – after my last post which was to get your attention — NO Yahoo! did not buy AOL!! — could it be soon – GoogleBay, MySpaceBay? That’s allot of money that Om is calculating that eBay spent to get into China. I’m sure Om crunched his numbers well, and it’s probably a very close guesstimate. Now we all know that eBay still makes loads of money, but a $500 million bad decision is hard to overcome.
Technically Speaking, we need to keep an eye on the big fish, being eaten by the BIGGER fish, finally being swallowed up by the BIG Shark. We all know who that is right?
That’s right… “Coming in via a vidcast – live and in living color — from his 53 room mansion outside of Seattle, WA on the big 1000″ plasma screen — it’s big Daddy Bill to the rescue!” ‘Nuff said, time for a podcast to hit the web once again – time for my voice to grace your ears, while you go read some original material!

AOL – bought out by Yahoo!
Posted by rexdixon on September 27, 2006
NOT REALLY – it did get your attention though right? … but.. it could be another Rex Dixon forecast for the future! What about Google, Microsoft, or ???
Hey, the handwriting is on the wall. According to TechCrunch, it’s there, has all the little cool things – you all know and expect to be there these days – AJAX, comments, galleries, etc.. etc.. but according to the article which you can read in full – it’s just not that good.
They just released their latest version out of beta today of their little picture app called AOL Pictures – After the last article about AOL on this blog and elsewhere; Technically Speaking it could very well soon become AOLonYahoo!, or AOLGoogle, or ???

Wallop – Pay Attention! MySpace “100 million” users — Debunked!
Posted by rexdixon on September 27, 2006
In last night’s 7 Minutes with Rex Dixon – 9/26/2006 show - I said some personal gripes out to Microsoft and their new social networking invite only site – Wallop.
I just read the below linked article a few moments ago. It basically seems pretty logical to me. Why am I saying for Wallop to pay attention? Because – don’t make the mistakes of your main competition in the social networking realm.
Myspace has 100 Million users? I think NOT, and that’s beyond Technically Speaking!

Feedvertising(TLA), Licketyship, Yahoo buys Jumpcut, Odesk $8 Million
Posted by rexdixon on September 27, 2006
Big day it seems, or blog day for those Professional Bloggers over at TechCrunch.
First up – looks like there is a new company launched that that does Feedvertising (TLA)- read all about it in the great write up by the TechCrunch guys. Here is another link to what Feedvertising is all about.
Next up – Licketyship is out today. A new service that provides fast delivery from local stores, again read more at the article on TechCrunch here.
Yahoo, Yah— WHO… remember those goofy ads? Well anyways, they might have been goofy, but still they have all the money and just acquired Jumpcut – a vidcast site. Read more at the TechCrunch link here.
Well do you think Rex Dixon was right or not? What I’m talking about is my big (well not really) going out on the limb announcement on my 9/25/2006 podcast. Yes, $8 million was handed over to Odesk today, and it’s not your typical startup – but more like a consulting firm. Read more here on the TechCrunch link.
Finally – some cool new gear links are here from TechCrunch of course.
Technically Speaking, these guys over at TechCrunch really have the inside track!

DEMO, Ning, GoogleTalk, dot MAC, Web 2.0
Posted by rexdixon on September 27, 2006
Om Malik and his sites have been busy. Mainly over on GigaOm.com, but he talks about Ning, GoogleTalk having rich Friends, and an article on dot MAC going Web 2.0. He had a previous older article on Ning in case you need to find out more on that; basically a VidCast site or business.
Over on his Web Worker Daily site, there is a nice article on working remote in NYC.
Then his writing contributer Liz is in San Diego doing the DEMO day 1 overview. Yes, I’d rather be in San Diego right now as Technically Speaking – I’d still be SLEEPING!!

Widgetbox
Posted by rexdixon on September 27, 2006
I had the time this morning, and had a true peak at the article written about this company called Widgetbox that is at DEMO in SD this week. This one of the top picks by the people over at TechCrunch.
What I truly find interesting, and the company Widgetbox is interesting btw, but what I find really interesting is their list of partners! Do you all remember my podcast from the other night – the one you might have missed - the Monday 9/25/2006 ? Definately go to the link above and read the full article over on TechCrunch.
If you missed it, then head over to check it out as I think that again, Technically Speaking at least, Rex Dixon may be on to something!
